Outdoor Zipper Track Blinds
Also known as: Zip-Track Blinds, Exterior Roller Shades, Wind-Resistant Patio Screens
Built for extreme weather. Our zip-track outdoor blinds offer Level 12 wind resistance, spanning up to 50 meters wide and 12 meters high. Patented zipper-guide technology keeps the fabric flat, stable, and silent in any condition.
These outdoor blinds use a sealed zip track system for patio, balcony and pergola openings where ordinary roller blinds fail. The fabric edge locks inside an aluminium side track with no gap, so the screen stays windproof and weatherproof in exposed positions. Choose clear PVC to keep winter dining areas usable, sunscreen mesh or fiberglass mesh for airflow and UV protection, or blackout shade fabric for privacy, with polyester PU coated options available. Tubular motor with remote and smart app control, spring balanced and hand crank versions all suit café, villa and glass room projects.

08Frequently Asked Questions
What are outdoor blinds?+
Outdoor blinds — also called zip-track blinds, exterior roller shades, or wind-resistant patio screens — are retractable shading systems mounted to a building's exterior. They use a zipper-track guide system to secure fabric in side channels, delivering full protection from sun, wind, rain, and insects. KAKADU outdoor blinds are engineered to withstand Level 12 wind forces and are ideal for pergolas, patios, balconies, verandas, and commercial facades.
What's the difference between outdoor blinds and zip-track blinds?+
Zip-track blinds are a specialized type of outdoor blind that uses a zipper mechanism to guide the fabric along side rails. The term "zip-track" refers to patented zipper-guide technology that keeps the fabric taut and prevents billowing. While all zip-track blinds are outdoor blinds, not all outdoor blinds use the zip-track system. KAKADU specializes in zip-track outdoor blinds for superior wind resistance and durability.
What are exterior roller shades used for?+
Exterior roller shades (also known as outdoor blinds) control sunlight, reduce heat gain, enhance privacy, and shield outdoor furniture from weather. They are commonly installed on pergolas, patios, balconies, verandas, restaurant terraces, hotel lobbies, and commercial building facades. Unlike interior versions, exterior shades feature weather-resistant materials and wind-rated construction.
What are patio screens, and how do they differ from patio blinds?+
Patio screens (also known as wind-resistant patio screens or patio blinds) are outdoor shading systems designed to enclose patios, verandas, and decks. The term "patio screen" is common in North America and Australia, "outdoor blinds" is more prevalent in the UK and Europe, and "exterior roller shades" is the standard term in the US market. All three refer to the same product category—KAKADU's zip-track system works for all of them.
What is the maximum wind speed outdoor blinds can withstand?+
Kakadu outdoor blinds are tested and certified to withstand wind forces up to Level 12 (up to 120 km/h). The dual-zipper side channel securely locks the fabric in place, preventing billowing or detachment even during storms. For sizes under 2.5×2.5m, outdoor wind resistance exceeds Level 12; indoor systems achieve Level 8+.
What is the maximum size for outdoor blinds?+
Our standard series supports widths up to 6m and heights up to 5m. Extra-wide coupled systems can span up to 30m wide, and extra-high systems reach up to 12m tall. These dimensions make KAKADU outdoor blinds ideal for large commercial facades, hotel lobbies, and industrial-scale enclosures.
